A park with a large lake in south Manchester, laid out in the 1970s on the site of a former gravel pit. Today it is a local nature reserve: a circular path around the water, woodland and meadows where waterfowl nest. In summer come picnics and paddlesports, in winter duck-feeding and birdwatching. An easy, friendly park for a weekend day out, well away from the tourist crowds.
