A legendary Viennese coffee house in the Ferstel Palace, trading since 1876 and embodying the city's UNESCO-listed coffee culture. Freud, Trotsky and the poet Peter Altenberg were regulars — Altenberg famously called the café his address. Today you get marble columns, vaulted ceilings, live piano, apple strudel with cream and a proper Viennese coffee. Entry is free, but the door queue starts early.
