The Castle Museum of Budapest History, in the northern wing of Buda Castle, traces the city from Roman Aquincum to the 20th century. Its highlight sits beneath the building: the medieval levels of the royal palace, with a Gothic hall, chapel fragments and 13th–15th-century cellars shown as an archaeological route. Later galleries cover the Ottoman era, city crafts and the growth of Buda and Pest.
