An expansive public park along the Spree River in Berlin's Alt-Treptow district, landscaped in the late 19th century by Gustav Meyer. It is internationally renowned for the monumental Soviet War Memorial, built in 1949 over the burials of 7,000 soldiers. Atop a grassy kurgan rises Yevgeny Vuchetich's 12-metre bronze statue of the 'Liberator Soldier'. The river promenade also offers boat rentals and access to the Isle of Youth.
