The Nobel Brothers Technological Museum offers a fascinating glimpse into Batumi's more recent past, when the city became an important trading port. Housed in a historic building that once belonged to the "Nobel Brothers Petroleum Production Society," the museum tells the story of the Nobel brothers' significant influence on Batumi and the Caucasus region, including their involvement in the Batumi-Baku railway and the construction of an oil depot near the port of Batumi. The exhibits range from samples of refined oil to technological artifacts of the time, as well as color photographs by Sergey Prokudin-Gorsky, who visited Batumi in 1912. Completed in 1952, the Batumi Theater is a fine example of Batumi's old architecture. The building, which houses the Ilia Chavchavadze State Theater, is named after a pioneer in literature and politics. The Batumi Theater also holds great significance for Georgian literature.
