Austria's largest library, housed within the Hofburg imperial palace complex on Josefsplatz. Its centerpiece is the State Hall (Prunksaal), completed in 1726 by Baroque master Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach and his son. Stretching nearly 80 metres under a frescoed 20-metre dome by Daniel Gran, this majestic hall features imperial marble statues and ornate walnut bookcases holding over 200,000 historic volumes.
