An elegant 1st-century AD Roman arch situated on the banks of the Adige River, right beside Verona's Castelvecchio. Unusually for Roman arches, it was erected not to celebrate an imperial victory but by the aristocratic Gavi family, designed by the architect L. Vitruvius Cerdo. Dismantled by Napoleonic troops in 1805, it was meticulously reconstructed in 1932 using its original white limestone blocks.
