Located in Corfu Town, the Archaeological Museum of Corfu houses an exceptional collection of artifacts from ancient Corcyra. Its crowning jewel is the monumental Gorgon Pediment from the Temple of Artemis at Kanoni (c. 580 BC), recognized as the earliest surviving stone architectural pediment in ancient Greece, centered on a fearsome Medusa relief. Other treasures include the archaic Lion of Menekrates, bronze statuettes, and pottery.
