The Arch of Hadrian is a monumental triumphal gateway sculpted from Pentelic marble in AD 131–132 to honour Roman Emperor Hadrian. Standing near the Temple of Olympian Zeus, it historically marked the boundary between Theseus's ancient Athens and the new Roman Hadrianopolis, as noted in two famous inscriptions. The lower Roman archway is topped by a Greek Corinthian colonnade.
