Founded in 1840, Antigua Casa de Guardia is Malaga's oldest historic tavern and winery, located along the Alameda Principal. Little has changed over nearly two centuries: giant oak barrels line the rustic whitewashed walls, pouring local fortified sweet wines such as Pajarete, Pedro Ximénez, and Moscatel. Bartenders keep time-honored tradition alive by tallying orders in white chalk directly on the long wooden bar counter.

Highlights

  • Malaga's oldest historic tavern, serving guests continuously since 1840
  • Authentic Malaga fortified wines poured straight from massive oak casks
  • Legendary tradition of bartenders scribbling orders in chalk on the bar counter
