An autonomous cultural centre carved out of a former army barracks by artists and activists in 1993. The compound is filled with brightly painted buildings hosting clubs, galleries, studios and workshops, their facades covered in graffiti and junk sculptures. By day the quarter works as an open-air museum; after dark it becomes the beating heart of alternative Ljubljana with concerts and club nights.

Highlights

  • Murals and junk-art sculptures on every facade
  • Live concerts and club nights most evenings
  • Galleries and studios of alternative artists
  • Self-declared autonomous zone since 1993
