Sight4.6 · 5 8143.9 · 123≈ 45 minFree entry

The square in central Hanoi where Ho Chi Minh proclaimed Vietnam's independence on 2 September 1945. The granite expanse is framed by the National Assembly building and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, with the Presidential Palace, the One Pillar Pagoda and shady avenues nearby. Flag-raising ceremonies take place at dawn and sunset, and queues for the mausoleum build up from the morning. The best hours are just after dawn, while it is still cool.

Highlights

  • Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum alongside
  • Sunrise flag-raising ceremony
