A three-arched triumphal arch at the northern end of Ludwigstrasse, completed in 1852 to Friedrich von Gartner's design and crowned by a quadriga: the goddess Bavaria in a chariot drawn by lions. Heavily damaged in World War II and rebuilt in deliberately plain form, its southern face carries an inscription dedicating it to victory, destroyed by war and now a plea for peace. A handy stop on a walk between the centre and the English Garden.
