A sublime baroque ensemble designed by Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt in the early 18th century as the summer retreat for Prince Eugene of Savoy. Two palaces, the Upper and Lower Belvedere, are joined by a terraced formal garden with fountains and sphinxes. The Upper Belvedere houses a glittering collection of Austrian art, crowned by Gustav Klimt's masterpieces 'The Kiss' and 'Judith' alongside works by Egon Schiele.
