One of the largest urban national parks in the world, preserving 104 square kilometres of rich forest within Mumbai's city limits. Its crown jewel is the ancient Kanheri Caves complex: 109 Buddhist rock-cut shrines, halls, and viharas carved into basalt cliffs between the 1st century BC and 10th century AD. The sanctuary shelters a famous population of wild leopards, spotted deer, and diverse birdlife amidst hiking trails.
