A beach in Andheri West on the Arabian Sea, best known for an environmental story: from 2015 lawyer Afroz Shah and volunteers cleared thousands of tonnes of waste here, work recognised by the United Nations. In 2018 olive ridley turtle hatchlings emerged on the cleaned sand for the first time in decades. Next door lies a fishing village, one of Mumbai's oldest koli settlements. Come at sunset, when it is far calmer than nearby Juhu.

Highlights

  • Famed for its massive beach cleanup
  • Olive ridley nesting since 2018
  • Adjacent koli fishing village
  • Sunsets over the Arabian Sea
