A masterpiece of Elizabethan Baroque in Saint Petersburg, built in 1753–1762 by Savva Chevakinsky for the Russian Admiralty. Its sky-blue facade, white Corinthian columns, five gilded domes, and detached bell tower by the Kryukov Canal form an iconic city ensemble. Dedicated to Saint Nicholas, patron saint of seafarers, the two-story cathedral preserves historic naval memorial plaques and remained active throughout the Soviet era.
