Standing tall at the center of Bangkok's busiest traffic circle in Ratchathewi, this dramatic obelisk was erected in 1941 to commemorate Thailand's brief conflict with France. The monument features five interlocking bayonets rising 50 meters into the sky, encircled at the base by heroic bronze statues representing the army, navy, air force, police, and civilians. An elevated skywalk connecting BTS skytrain stations encircles the landmark.
