St. Michan's Church on Church Street was founded in 1095 by Norse settlers and rebuilt in 1686. The church is famous worldwide for its dry limestone burial vaults, where exceptional atmospheric conditions naturally mummified remains in open oak caskets, including the body of an 800-year-old Crusader. Upstairs sits a magnificent 1724 pipe organ on which Handel is said to have composed and practiced.
