Krakow's first Baroque church, built for the Jesuits in 1597-1619 on the model of Rome's Il Gesu. Twelve apostle statues guard the facade - modern copies, with surviving 18th-century originals in the nearby parish courtyard. Inside are a bright domed nave and a crypt holding the remains of the famed preacher Piotr Skarga. At noon mechanical apostle figures appear in the facade niche; the church stands on Grodzka between Wawel and the Main Square.
