An Episcopal church of 1846 at the head of Wall Street, the third on this site after fire and a hurricane destroyed its predecessors. Richard Upjohn's Gothic Revival building in brown sandstone remained for years the tallest point in New York. Its churchyard holds the graves of Alexander Hamilton, inventor Robert Fulton and the pirate Captain Kidd, shaded by trees that saw the 19th century.
