The Basilica of San Domenico is the mother church of the Dominican Order, founded where Saint Dominic passed away in 1221. Its crown jewel is the Arca di San Domenico, a magnificent marble shrine sculpted across centuries by Nicola Pisano, Arnolfo di Cambio, and a young Michelangelo, who carved an angel and two saints. Intricate choir stalls enrich the choir.
