The retro beacon of Osaka's colorful Shinsekai entertainment quarter, rebuilt in 1956 to a design by Tachū Naitō following the destruction of the 1912 original. Rising to 108 metres, it features an open-air cantilevered observation deck 91 metres up and enshrines the smiling golden statue of Billiken, the god of things as they ought to be. Its vibrant neon crown changes colour each night to forecast tomorrow's weather.
