Also known as the University Church, this striking early 17th-century Jesuit sanctuary on Dr.-Ignaz-Seipel-Platz was remodeled between 1701 and 1707 by master architect Andrea Pozzo. Its interior is a High Baroque triumph of twin spiral green-marble columns, gilded stucco, and rich woodwork. Pozzo's greatest feat is the trompe-l'oeil ceiling fresco, which conjures the breathtaking optical illusion of a grand dome on a flat roof.
