Orsanmichele on Via dei Calzaiuoli is a Renaissance treasure in the heart of Florence. Built in the 14th century as a loggia grain market, it was later converted into a guild church. Fourteen exterior niches held masterwork sculptures by Donatello, Verrocchio, and Ghiberti, now preserved in the upper-floor museum. Inside stands Andrea Orcagna's magnificent 1359 Gothic marble tabernacle framing Bernardo Daddi's Madonna.
