Spanning around 180 hectares on the Janiculum hill, Villa Doria Pamphili is Rome's largest landscaped public park. Created in the 17th century for Camillo Pamphili, nephew of Pope Innocent X, the estate centers around the elegant Casino del Bel Respiro with its manicured parterre box hedges. Shaded by ancient umbrella pines, the grounds feature cascades, ruins of a Roman aqueduct, swans on the lake, and peaceful walking pathways.
