A chain of sandy beaches along the avenue du Prado near Parc Borély, created in the 1970s using earth excavated during the construction of the Marseille metro. Wide sand, beach volleyball, sunbed rentals and seaside walking tracks make it the best bet for a beach day inside the city. Lifeguards work in season, and early mornings stay quiet and empty.
