Ocean Beach

Beach4.7 · 2 1704.2 · 427≈ 45 minFree entry

A wild five-kilometre Pacific beach along San Francisco's sunset side. The water stays cold and the surf heavy, so swimming is left to wetsuited surfers while everyone else walks, flies kites and lights bonfires in the designated pits. From the north end you can reach the Sutro Baths ruins and the Lands End cliffs.

Highlights

  • Roughly 5 km of wild ocean beach
  • A magnet for wetsuited surfers
  • Fire pits and sunsets at the waterline
