The civic museum of Scotland's capital, housed inside Huntly House, a picturesque 16th-century timber-fronted townhouse on the Royal Mile in Canongate. Its maze-like rooms display treasures of Edinburgh's story: the original 1638 National Covenant, James Craig's 1767 blueprint for the New Town, historic Scottish silver and crystal, and the feeding bowl and leather collar of the devoted terrier Greyfriars Bobby. Admission is free.
