One of Bucharest's most atmospheric public parks, laid out in 1906 on Filaret Hill by French landscape architect Édouard Redont to celebrate King Carol I's 40-year jubilee. Blending French formal gardens with romantic woodland avenues, the park centers on a 48-meter-high granite mausoleum housing an eternal flame with an honor guard. A serene central lake, neoclassical fountains, and statues complete the grounds.

Highlights

  • Monumental 48-meter red-and-black granite mausoleum atop Filaret Hill
  • Eternal flame flanked by ceremonial military honor guards
  • Scenic central lake with arched footbridges and seasonal boat rentals
  • Historical curiosities including the replica Vlad Țepeș Castle
