The library of a college founded in 1592 is home to the Book of Kells, a Gospel manuscript from around 800 AD famed for its lavish illuminations. From there the route leads to the Long Room, nearly 65 metres of oak shelving under a barrel vault holding the oldest volumes and the harp of Brian Boru. Entry is by timed slot; booking online ahead is wise — the queue is one of Dublin's longest.
