Tenjinbashi-suji Shopping Street

Japan's longest covered shopping arcade — some 2.6 km of shops, cafés and eateries running from Tenma station to Osaka Tenmangu shrine. Around six hundred stores line the passage: century-old kimono and tea-ware shops sit beside cheap canteens where locals eat their breakfast. The solid roof makes the street all-weather — people hide here from rain and summer heat alike, and weekends bring crowds of shrine visitors.
