The National Museum of Decorative Arts and History, housed in the 18th-century Collins Barracks — home to the army until 1998. Permanent galleries cover Irish silver, furniture, costume and the 1916 Rising, with designer Eileen Gray's work a particular highlight. Entry to the permanent exhibitions is free, with only temporary shows charging; the barracks and courtyards are a monument in themselves.
