A historic sunken square in central Rome famous for its ancient republican ruins and feline residents. Below street level lie the excavated remains of four Roman temples dating from the 4th to 2nd centuries BC, along with the Curia of Pompey, where Julius Caesar was assassinated on the Ides of March in 44 BC. The site is equally renowned for its volunteer-run cat sanctuary, with wooden walkways allowing close views of the excavations.
