A former 14th-century Carthusian monastery on the Vomero hill, next to Castel Sant'Elmo. Its gardens and terraces offer the finest panoramic view over Naples and Vesuvius. Inside, the city museum holds famous 18th-century nativity scenes with hundreds of figures, plus frescoes, carriages and paintings by Neapolitan masters. Marble statues ring the well in the cloister. The walk up is steep — take the funicular.
