The world's second-oldest operating amusement park, opened by Georg Carstensen in central Copenhagen in 1843. Its fairy-tale atmosphere — blending exotic oriental pavilions, lush flowerbeds, and thousands of glowing lanterns — inspired Hans Christian Andersen's The Nightingale and later Walt Disney's Disneyland. Vintage thrills include Rutschebanen, a 1914 wooden roller coaster where trains are still steered by an on-board brakeman.
