The cultural jewel of Marseille's waterfront, inaugurated in 2013 at the entrance to the Old Port. Designed by architect Rudy Ricciotti, the stunning cubic building is enveloped in a delicate lattice of ultra-high-performance concrete that filters sunlight and sea breezes. A dramatic footbridge connects the modern structure to the 12th-century Fort Saint-Jean, while exhibits explore Mediterranean cultures and shared history.

Highlights

  • Rudy Ricciotti's filigree concrete lattice facade over the sea
  • Suspended footbridge connecting the museum to Fort Saint-Jean
  • Rich exhibits examining Mediterranean civilizations and arts
  • Panoramic rooftop terrace overlooking Marseille's Old Port
