The Forum of Augustus, finished in 2 BC, was the second imperial forum of Rome, dominated by the temple of Mars Ultor. Today the ruins stand waist-high: the temple podium, Corinthian columns of coloured marble and the great fire wall that shielded the plaza from the crowded Suburra district. The complex stretches along Via dei Fori Imperiali.
