Tennoji Park in southern Osaka opened in 1903; at its heart lies Keitakuen, a Japanese garden with a pond, bridges and a teahouse. Next door are the city museum of fine arts, Tennoji Zoo and a hill with an ancient burial mound, while the Shinsekai district with the Tsutenkaku tower begins to the north. Shitennoji, one of Japan's oldest temples, is within walking distance. Park entry is free; the garden and zoo charge separate admission.
