Marina Barrage

Sight4.7 · 8 7804.2 · 695≈ 1 h 38 minFree entry

Marina Barrage is at once a dam, a reservoir and a public park where the river was closed off in 2008. The structure protects downtown Singapore from floods and tops up the city-state's fresh water supply. Its main draw is the green roof: people come to fly kites, picnic and photograph the sunset panorama of the Singapore Flyer and skyscrapers. Downstairs, a free gallery explains how the city manages its water.

Highlights

  • Dam-reservoir with a rooftop green lawn
