A lavish Ottoman imperial residence on the Bosphorus shore, completed in 1856 for Sultan Abdülmecid I. Blending Ottoman palace tradition with European Baroque and Neoclassicism, it features 285 rooms, 14 tonnes of gold leaf on ceilings, and the famed Baccarat crystal staircase. The soaring Ceremonial Hall holds a 4.5-tonne Bohemian crystal chandelier, while palace clocks remain stopped at 09:05, when Atatürk passed away here in 1938.
