A double-deck metal arch bridge spanning the Douro River, opened in 1886 to a design by Théophile Seyrig, a disciple of Gustave Eiffel. It links Porto's historic Ribeira waterfront with the port wine cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia. The top deck carries metro trains and pedestrians, offering sweeping views over the colorful quayside and terracotta rooftops.
