Question 1

Do you need to fill out a form upon arrival in the US on the plane, and where can you find a sample?

Accepted Answer

Entry forms for the US are no longer required — neither on the plane nor at the border. Arrivals go straight to passport control: the officer scans the passport and visa, takes fingerprints on a first entry, and asks a couple of standard questions (purpose of visit, amount of cash).

Question 2

When flying transit to Raleigh, North Carolina, via Boston and Amsterdam on a single ticket, do you need to collect your baggage in Boston?

Accepted Answer

The exact rules for a specific ticket should be confirmed with the airline that issued it. Under past practice, baggage is collected at the first point of entry into the US — in Boston — where it goes through customs and agricultural inspection, and is then checked in again.

Question 3

How long is a direct flight from Boston to London?

Accepted Answer

A direct flight from Boston to London takes about 6 hours 20 minutes to 6 hours 40 minutes.

Question 4

Is it worth visiting Boston, and what expenses should a tourist expect?

Accepted Answer

Boston is worth visiting: it is the center of New England, the city where the American Revolution began, and home to Harvard and MIT. In terms of costs (hotels, restaurants, tours, shopping), it is no different from other US cities.
